Break into AI Builder Roles

Enroll

Job boards now carry titles that did not exist two years ago, such as AI Builder, Demo Experience Engineer and AI Solutions Engineer, alongside older titles that have been quietly rewritten to include AI. Breaking in is a positioning problem. You bridge what you have already done into the new vocabulary, prove it with artifacts you have built, and pass interviews that test whether you can apply the material rather than recall it. A working portfolio still clears the bar, because almost nobody is building. If a role of yours disappeared because of AI, this is the direct route into the roles it created.

The outcome

How does this prepare you for a job?

For these roles the résumé is the portfolio plus the vocabulary bridge. Mountains of skill need no pep talk.

  • Repositioned experience against AI-builder job descriptions, mapping prior work onto the agentic systems, RAG and evaluation vocabulary that hiring teams screen for.
  • Built proof artifacts targeted at the role: a working agent, a RAG service and an eval harness, each with a live demo URL.
  • Passed practical screens, meaning live-build exercises, take-homes and architecture walkthroughs of AI features.
  • Ran a referral-first search across both the new-world titles and the old ones that have been rewritten for AI.
  • Negotiated from parallel processes, holding a portfolio that answered the technical-depth question before it was asked.
Tools

AI tools learnt

Build tools for the artifacts, plus AI used as your market analyst.

Hands-on skills

  • Mine twenty real job descriptions and extract the skills each title family screens for
  • Translate your history into the new vocabulary without inflating it
  • Choose the two or three artifacts that between them cover your target titles' requirements
  • Demo a build in three minutes: the problem, the architecture, run it live, then take questions
  • Handle the practical screen, meaning build while being watched without freezing
  • Sequence a referral-first search, and make the ask without burning the contact
Syllabus

Modules

Level: Basic

Map the market

  • The title landscape, covering both the new roles and the rewritten old ones
  • Mine JDs with AI, then cluster what is actually being screened for
  • Choose your target title family deliberately

Bridge your story

  • Your experience translated into the new vocabulary, honestly
  • The niche trap, and why AI-curious generalist is not a position
  • Résumé and LinkedIn rewritten around evidence

Prove it

  • Scope the two or three proof artifacts your target family requires
  • Ship the first one with a live URL
  • The three-minute demo, rehearsed until it holds

Level: Advanced

The interview loops

  • Practical build screens, take-homes and architecture walkthroughs
  • What AI-lab and FAANG-adjacent loops actually test
  • Mock rounds, followed by teardown feedback

Frontier-lab and FAANG positioning

  • What builder roles at OpenAI, Anthropic and Google screen for: shipping velocity, evals and awareness of safety
  • Tailor the artifacts to that bar
  • Referral mechanics inside big companies, meaning who is allowed to refer and what they need from you

Run the search as a system

  • The referral graph, the application cadence, and the metrics on your pipeline
  • Parallel processes, and being honest about urgency
  • Negotiate with leverage rather than with scripts

Students can take the full course (both levels) or either level on its own.
